Does the program have plants suitable for where I live?
GrowIt's Plant Database is considered a global database and contains plants from tropical to cool weather range. All the field captions in the plant database can be changed to what best suits your area. Example: Climate range can be changed to Zones. Botanical name can be changed to Latin Name if so desired. Any of the information contained in the plant record can be changed or modified for your uses. You can create your own database and assign its own icon to it.
You can insert your own key words into the record and then use those words to search the database with.
Example: If you wanted to know what plants are good for drought conditions you could put the word drought into the plant record. Then when you search the database you can use the word drought and all plants you have designated good for drought will then compile into their own database.
Does the program have plants native to my area?
GrowIt's database is large so you are sure to find some plants native to your area. But if you find the selection limited you can add your own plants, photos, and information to better meet your individual needs. Plus you can add monthly updates to the database and to PlantCad, by visiting

Can the modules be purchased separately?
No, GrowIt Gold Works is one complete package that includes all of the 6 modules and extra features as shown on the website.
Can GrowIt be purchased in retail stores?
No, GrowIt is only available online.

How do I insert my own pictures into the program?
You can either scan a picture (the help file helps with size, etc.) use a disc or digital camera. Since GrowIt is compatible to most paint programs you still have the option to lighten or darken your pictures.
What does the extra user licenses mean on your order form?
An extra user license is purchased by schools and larger businesses who have more than one computer. Each extra user license allows for installing GrowIt in another computer at the school or business site.
Can GrowIt be used in all Windows?
Yes. Win95, Win98, Win98ME, Win2000 or WinXP. Please see full computer requirements and warranty . GrowIt is not available for Macs - sorry.
Can I use the plants from an encyclopedia I already own?
GrowIt allows for importing in 29 different file formats, so most other program records can be moved to the GrowIt database. The file formats for importing graphics are: ART - BMP - CUT - CUR - DIB - EMF - GEM - GIF - HRZ - ICO - IFF - IMG - JPG - LBM - MAC - MSP - PBM - PCX - PGM - PIC - PNG - PNM - PPM - RAS - RLE - TGA - TIF - WMF - WPG.
How do I scale the size of buildings, etc in the program?
You insert the measurements of your landscape or garden plan and the program will put a border around the area you have stated. Grids and rulers help you define accurate measurements. Plants can be resized using your mouse to keep correct perspective. V10 includes a Wizard to assist in your layout.
Can I add rocks, picket fence, pond, etc into the plan?
Yes, you can add anything you have a photo of and/or select from a photo an object to use in your landscape. You can also remove any unwanted objects from the photo.
Does ChargeIt support bar codes?
No, sorry... it doesn't.
When are new versions released and how much do they cost?
GrowIt is kept up to date with Windows systems. New versions are released approx. every 2 years. The cost to upgrade is approx. half the price of the new cost. Owners of previous versions can upgrade to the newest version at any time. Upgrades are sent complete as you would receive if buying new and there is no requirement to send back previous version.
