COMMENTS:
Mints have square stems, strong mint flavor and aroma and flowers in leaf axils. This strain of mint retains its strong flavor and aroma for well over a year, so is an excellent keeper dried.
Uses: Mint flavors teas and many dessert dishes. Mints are stimulant, aiding digestion and reduce flatulence. It is included in ointments and cold remedies because of its antiviral, antiseptic, antiparasitic and sweat inducing qualities. In an inhalant the essential oil treats shock and nausea and improves concentration.
Digestive Aid: Menthol soothes the stomach muscles lining of the digestive tract, making it an antispasmodic. May help prevent stomach ulcers and stimulate bile secrection.
Anesthetic: Mints are used in many pain releiving creams for its anesthetic properties.
Decongestant: Menthol vapours help relieve nasal, sinus and chest congestion. Is used in many commercial products.
Infection prevention: Peppermint oil kills several bacteria and Herpes simplex virus.
Women's Health: Mints soothe muscles so can be tried for morning sickness and menstruation cramps.
Dosage: 1-2 teaspoons whole dried herb to a cup of boiling water. Steep 10 minutes and drink up to 3 cups per day. Can be used sprinkled directly onto wounds or used as a poultice.
