COMMENTS:
This herb has finely cut feathery foliage, umbels of midsummer flowers, curved, ribbed seeds and a thick root, all with fresh anise seed flavor.

Uses: The seeds flavor breads, curries, apple pie, and fish sauces and are sprouted as a salad herb. Their essence flavors liquers and toothpaste. The seeds are chewed to allay hunger and ease indigestion. They are brewed for constipation, to increase breast milk and regulate menstruation. The root extract is detoxifying and diuretic. Research shows Fennel helps repair the liver after alcohol damage. Seed and leaf steam aids deep skin cleansing. The essential oil (used conservatively) is used in a muscle-toning massage.

Women's Health: The antispasmodic action of fennel helps to soothe muscles contractions in the uterus, but in a strong enough dosage it may stimulate the uterus to bring on menustruation. Fennel has a mild estogenic effect, which means it acts like the female hormone estogen. This is why it is contributed to increase mother's milk and bring on menstruation. Older women may wish to try fennel to aid the discomforts associated with menopause.

Prostate Cancer: Female sex hormones are often prescribed for prostate cancer. Try fennel along with traditional therapies only in consult with your doctor.

Dosage: 1-2 teaspoons bruised fennel per cup of boiling water. Steep 10 minutes. Drink up to 3 cups a day.
A weakened tea can be given to babies for colic.

Remark: Fennel should not be used by epileptics or young children.

This is Plum Flower brand's nitrogen-flushed vacuum pack. Plum Flower is one of the most distinguished herb houses in the world. Sulfur Free, Chlorine Free, Aluminum Phosphate Free. Sulfites are used to give herbs the appearance of freshness. As with dried fruit. un-sulfured herbs look different than those that are adulterated with preservatives. Herbs that are preservative free are more natural looking and are generally darker. The brightness of the herbs may be appealing, but it indicates the presence of harmful additives. Despite their appearance, unsulfured herbs are more fresh and safer than regular commercially available products. The use of sulfur, chlorine and aluminum phosphate was made unnecessary through the establishment of Plum Flower processing stations in China. Herb harvesters slice and process the herbs fresh, avoiding the need to rehydrate dried herbs later to process. This first step is crucial, as rehydration leads to decomposition and thus the need for preservatives. The herbs are then packed and the packages vacuum-packed, injected with nitrogen, and sealed. The nitrogen process combined with the lack of sulfur treatment inhibits the growth of anaerobic organisms, resulting in safer, higher quality herbs. After opening, store in a cool dry place. The facilities in Lanzhou and Guang Zhou, China, scientifically test each batch of herbs before, during and after the processing to make sure that all the active ingredients are present. Herbs are also tested to ensure that the formulas surpass all FDA guidelines regarding heavy metals. Those herbs exported to the U.S. are voluntarily submitted to the FDA for approval. Finally, batches are regularly sent out for quality control testing in third-party labs to double-ensure that Plum Flower products are 100% free of pharmaceuticals, preservatives and dyes. The Lanzhou and Guang Zhou factories are so clean, they are certified by the Australian Governments Therapeutic Goods Administration (GMP). These standards surpass any of the FDA, and are considered the highest for any government agency in the world. Varuna Fulfillment Center items are special ordered. Fennel Seed Powder Cert. Organic (Foeniculum vulgare) 1 lb: K Fennel Seed Powder Cert. Organic (Foeniculum vulgare) 1 lb: K

This is Frontier's nitrogen-flushed double wall silverfoil pack. Some Frontier packs are double wall wax-lined paper. Fennel seeds are a common cooking spice worldwide, popular with fish and curries. Fennel is an element of Chinese five spice powder, and is part of innumerable traditional Mediterranean, Arabic, Iranian, Indian and European recipes. Fennel's sweet earthy taste enhances meat dishes, fish, breads, pickles and vinegar. The herb is also traditional in Chinese, Arab, Indian and Western pharmacopoeias. After meals, fennel seeds are used in several cultures to prevent gas and upset stomach. The 1997 Commission E on Phytotherapy and Herbal Substances of the German Federal Institute for Drugs recommends Fennel seed for 'Dyspepsias such as mild, spastic gastrointestinal afflictions, fullness, flatulence. Catarrh of the upper respiratory tract. Fennel syrup, fennel honey: catarrh of the upper respiratory tract in children.' 'Side Effects: In individual cases allergic reactions of skin and respiratory tract.' 'Daily dosage: 5 - 7 g herb; 10 - 20 g fennel syrup or honey (Erg. B. 6); 5 - 7.5 g compound fennel tincture; equivalent preparations. Mode of Administration: Crushed or ground seeds for teas, tea-like products, as well as other galenical preparations for internal use. Duration of Administration Fennel preparations should not be used on a prolonged basis (several weeks) without consulting a physician or pharmacist.' 'Actions: Promotes gastrointestinal motility, in higher concentrations acts as an antispasmodic. Experimentally, anethole and fenchone have been shown to have a secretolytic action in the respiratory tract; in the frog, aqueous fennel extracts raise the mucociliary activity of the ciliary epithelium.' The main active constituents, which include the terpenoid anethole, are found in the volatile oil. Anethole and other terpenoids may have mild estrogen-like activity, and inhibit spasms in smooth muscles, such as those in the intestinal tract. Recent studies have found fennel to possess diuretic, choleretic (bile-producing), pain-reducing, fever-reducing, and antimicrobial actions. Fennel was formerly an official drug in the United States and was listed as being used for indigestion and possibly for stimulating milk flow in women. Whole seeds may be chewed or used in tea. Grieve's classic 'A Modern Herbal': 'On account of its aromatic and carminative properties, Fennel fruit is chiefly used medicinally with purgatives to allay their tendency to griping and for this purpose forms one of the ingredients of the well-known compound Liquorice Powder.' 'Fennel water has properties similar to those of anise and dill water: mixed with sodium bicarbonate and syrup, these waters constitute the domestic 'Gripe Water,' used to correct the flatulence of infants.' 'Volatile oil of Fennel has these properties in concentration. Fennel tea, formerly also employed as a carminative, is made by pouring half a pint of boil

Fennel, Sweet Essential Oil 1/3 oz: K Fennel, Sweet Essential Oil 1/3 oz: K

Sweet fennel oil has a very sweet, earthy, anise-like aroma due to its primary constituent, anethole. Sweet fennel usually contains more anethole than bitter fennel oil. Aromatherapy benefits: nurturing, supportive, restorative. Essential, absolute and resin oils are volatile, fragrant materials extracted from the root, bark, wood, seed, fruit, leaf or flower of a single plant. The plants used to produce these oils are grown on certified organic fields and are third-party certified by Quality Assurance International; no synthetic chemicals are used in growing or processing them. Steam distillation and cold pressing are used to extract the essential oil from the plant. Essential oils and absolutes are very potent and should always be used sparingly and in conjunction with a reliable reference. Essential oils contain the odor, taste and medicinal properties of the plant itself, but in very concentrated form, with no base oil, alcohol, water or dilutants added.

Weightless Cinnamon Spice Tea 16 tea bags Weightless Cinnamon Spice Tea 16 tea bags

WeightlessŪ Cinnamon-Spice is based on traditional cleansing teas containing fennel seed indicated for stimulation of metabolism and kidney function, to facilitate bile, urinary and stool secretion and to promote healthy digestion.* Fennel's secretory action is enhanced by mild hydragogues (promotes discharge of water) cleavers and red clover, and urinary antiseptics, uva ursi and buchu. Red clover is also considered to be an alterative, a substance that 'alters' unhealthy processes, stimulates metabolism and gradually produces beneficial changes in the body.
